Is the Jews’ Holocaust Above All Other Genocides? Allusions to the Holocaust Industry and “Property Restitution” Claims

This book provides a good introduction to the genocides of native peoples, Armenians, Jews, Sinti and Roma (Gypsies), Cambodians, Rwandans, and Sudanese. It conspicuously omits the genocides of Poles and that of the Ukrainians (Holodomor).

ARE JEWS SPECIAL? SOME GENOCIDE SCHOLARS DISAGREE

Historian Lisa Pine writes, “One particular point of vexed debate has centered upon how the Holocaust relates to genocide as a concept and an event. Many historians consider the Holocaust to be the definitive event of the twentieth century…Many genocide scholars rejected such claims, arguing that they fail to take into account the uniqueness of other genocides.” (p. 5).

MAKING THE HOLOCAUST A PARADIGMATIC GENOCIDE ITSELF SLIGHTS OTHER GENOCIDES

Holocaust supremacy does not disappear just because “the other victims of the Nazis” are mentioned alongside the Holocaust. Pine comments, “David Moshman has presented a useful and convincing argument, stating that: ‘Given that every genocide is unique, any prototype-based concept of genocide will distort one’s understanding of some genocides as it filters them through whatever genocide is taken as central and defining.’” (p. 6).

WHOSE GENOCIDE IS COMMEMORATED AND WHOSE IS NOT: THE ROOTS OF VICTIMHOOD COMPETITION

One of the implications of Holocaust supremacy is identified by historian Lisa Pine, “How does the way that historical events are remembered serve particular groups or agendas?…In an era in which memory has become so important, commemorating genocide, and the Holocaust in particular, has become a significant part of our popular consciousness.” (p. 158, emphasis added). It certainly has.

The author adds, “Memorial days, which represent an obvious way to commemorate and mark past events, can also pose difficulties and controversies. How is it best to design them? Who are they for? Whose story do they tell and whose story do they omit?” (p. 162, emphasis added).

GENOCIDE SCHOLARS PUSH BACK AGAINST THE PRE-EMINENCE OF THE HOLOCAUST

Historian Pine comments, “In particular, as we saw in the introduction to this book, there has been some marked enmity among certain genocide scholars towards the prominent place of the Holocaust and towards its description as ‘unique’.” (p. 51).

A THINLY-VEILED PROMOTION OF THE HOLOCAUST INDUSTRY

A rather transparent Jews-are-owed message is articulated by Lisa Pine, who makes this insinuation with regard to Nazi German rule, “Encouraging local populations to pillage Jewish property in this way brought them into complicity with the regime and its persecution and genocide.” (p. 10). Excuse me! One impoverished victim of Germany helping himself to the belongings of another victim of Germany, in order to alleviate the crushing poverty caused by German rule, is in no sense in complicity with the Germans!

Author Pine adds that, “Complicity also extends, as we have seen, to the many ordinary people who stood to gain from the economic plunder of Jewish assets and possessions, not only in Germany but across many European lands including Austria, Poland, Hungary, and Romania.” (p. 170).

The foregoing Judeocentric construct, if applied equally to all peoples, would mean that anyone merely in possession of the property of a onetime murder victim would thereby become complicit in the murder! Moreover, this complicity is collective: Certain individuals owning the property of a onetime murder victim now means that the entire nationality of the new owners owes reparations to the nationality of the murder victim! Such is Jewish logic.

The construct also has implications for Polish-Jewish relations. It would mean that Jews owe Poles anytime that Jews had benefitted from some wrong done to Poland, even if they had nothing to do with the commission of the wrong itself. For example, even though it was Stalin that imposed the Communist puppet government on Poland, it is a fact that many Jews benefitted from it by playing leading roles in this government. So now Jews owe Poles.
