‘Degradation of democracy in western society’, Vladimir Putin slams EU resolution equating RT to ISIS
Authors of the document equate counteracting Russia with the resistance to ISIS and call on EU member states to boost financing counter-propaganda projects.

The European Union’s quest to become a global laughing stock, continues to make progress. Members of the EU Parliament have just voted in favour of a non-binding resolution to condemn and respond to so-called ‘information warfare’.
The two targets of this attack are ironically facing each other on the battle fields of Syria. On the one side there is ISIS and on the other there is Russia, but both are equally condemned as being a danger to Europe, according to the EU Parliament’s resolution.
Specifically, the resolution targets the media outlets of ISIS and of Russia. In the case of Russia they are worried about popular news outlets like RT, and in the case of ISIS they are worried about videos of mass murder committed by crazed fanatics.
And just like the entire team of The Duran not being a fan of the EU’s bias and stupidity, we are in excellent company…as Russian President Vladimir Putin also finds the draft resolution “not consistent with the principles and norms of democracy.”
The EU is nothing remotely close to a democracy, more like a elitist oligarchy. Putin rightly noted that Europe keeps trying to “teach” Russia democracy… ( What does it remind me of…? Haven’t they also tried to teach Poland democracy? Interesting… Admin.)
“More recently — and these attempts are still ongoing — they [European officials] tried to ‘teach us’ democracy, and we have always heard from these ‘teachers’ that the most vicious way to do business with opponents is to ban something and that it is not consistent with the principles and norms of democracy. Open discussion is always the best way.”
“If such a decision [of the European Parliament on the fight against Russian media] is adopted, it says that we see a quite obvious degradation in the political sense of this word of the vision of democracy in the Western society.”
The EU Parliament adopted a draft resolution proposed by EU lawmaker from Poland Anna Elzbieta Fotyga on EU strategic communication to counteract propaganda against the bloc by third parties, which says that Russia is allegedly engaged in propaganda against the European Union.
Authors of the document equate counteracting Russia with the resistance to Daesh terrorist group and call on EU member states to boost financing counter-propaganda projects.
The Russian president congratulated Sputnik news agency and RT TV channel on effective work. The EU parliament resolution is an “evident sign of degradation of the Western society’s vision of democracy.”
Putin also added that he hoped common sense will prevail and there would be no real restrictions concerning the work of Russian media.
If I were Putin I would not hold my breathe anytime soon. The EU is more likely to dissolve and crumble before the corrupt neo-liberal puppets sitting in the parliament start enacting resolutions that make sense and deliver pragmatic suggestions.
