The term – “HATE”
The term “hate” has a bad connotation in most of our minds, but a moment’s thought will tell us that, in fact, many things are indeed worth hating: fascism; communism, tyrants, mass murder; poverty; domestic violence, child abuse, homelessness; inequality; discrimination…the list is endless.
Yet social and political activism or movements are not, at their core, about hate: freedom activists are struggling for change and justice hopefully, in their eyes, for the better, and often for people other than themselves.
The Zionist movement refer to people such as Norman Finkelstein or Henry Makow as “self-hating Jews” , and others as David Duke as anti-Semites.
Again, these absurd labels are attempts to discredit the legitimate criticism of Israeli government policies, which in current situating are criminal.
They are also signs of desperation, a form of name-calling similar to schoolyard taunts.
Their point, of course, is to keep folks from actually listening to those activists’ positions or examining the facts on the ground, discrediting any anti-Israeli movement, and by claiming it is “anti-peace” , anti-Semitic and one-sided.
The irony here is that these descriptors are, in fact, extremely accurate descriptors of their side.
When Binyamin Netanyahu embarked on his most recent campaign for re-election, even his own supporters and constituents could not hide their disgust at his egomaniacal behaviour and his wife’s embarrassing public conduct.
Beyond Netanyahu’s obnoxious personal characteristics, Israel has consolidated its position as one of the OECD’s most unequal countries under his rule.
Netanyahu, the most fanatic neo-liberal leader in Israel’s history has burned Israel’s bridges with many international communities.
If the Israelis continue to hold on to their dream of a greater Israel and control another people, they will eventually lose all of Israel.
