The Bombing of Wielun
The bombing of Wieluń refers to the bombing of the Polish town of Wieluń by the German Luftwaffe on 1 September 1939. Seventy-fife years ago at dawn, above the sleeping, defenseless town located 21 kilometers from the border with the Third Reich, came flying the German Stukas, dropping 380 bombs in total.
The Luftwaffe started bombing Wielun at 4:40 am, five minutes before the shelling of Westerplatte, which has traditionally been considered the beginning of World War II. It is considered to be one of the first bombings in Europe in this war.
It killed an estimated 1,300 civilians, injured hundreds more and destroyed 90 percent of the town’s centre. There were no military targets of any importance in the area.

Before the war, Wieluń had about 16,000 residents and was 21 kilometres from the German border. On September 1st 1939 the city was attacked by formations of the Luftwaffe under the control of the aerial commander for special operations, General Wolfram von Richthofen. Among them was the 1st division of the 76th dive bomber regiment under the command of Captain Walter Siegel. Members of his unit were pilots in the Condor Legion, who bombed Guernica (Spain) in 1937.
The casualty rate in Wielun, however, was more than twice as high as Guernica.
The first bombs hit the All-Saints Hospital, despite clear signs marking the Red Cross (painted on the sign on the roof, as confirmed by several witnesses). 32 people died there – patients and staff. These were the first victims of the German air raids during World War II. The next target was the oldest, parish church in Wieluń, St. Michael the Archangel, built in the beginning of the 14th Century. At the time of the German attack, no units of the Polish Army were stationed in the city, nor were there any anti-aircraft positions. Not only from a military perspective but from an economic one, the city didn’t present any essential target for the Luftwaffe. There weren’t any industrial plants there, nor did any important transportation routes run through it. Thus, in the opinion of historians, the target of the German attack on Wieluń was the civilian population.
Raid is considered a war crime. Wielun bombing was the first German war crime. This is called the raid a terrorist attack personally coordinated by Wolfram von Richthofen. According to Joachim Trenker “a lot of circumstantial evidence indicates that the command of the Luftwaffe deliberately had chosen to raid and target the defenseless city of Wieluń, in order to test their new airplane Ju 87B”. Wielun was used as a testing ground for the “superior race”.
Some Polish scholars and historians are of the opinion that the raid was carried out in order to “show what has become of the Luftwaffe” and sow panic among civilians.
In January 2004, the IPN reopened the investigation into the raid on Wielun, but German prosecutors dropped the previous two investigations in this matter by Emmerling’s justifying the presence of a cavalry brigade there (…duh…what a great danger?) without providing any evidence!
Trenker gives the names of the commanders of squadrons and says that none of the pilots ever answered for this crime of war. Przemysław Kucharczak (Guest Sunday) believes that this liability should not be limited to issuing orders to raid, but to all “direct contractors of murder”.
Other version of the events – German aviation historian Horst Boog claims that a Polish cavalry brigade and a Polish infantry division had been located in the town.
What a peddling and pathetic LIE!
Even if they were there, they stationed on their own soil, protecting their people and their own country!!!!
There is NO justification and NO excuse. NEVER! EVER!!
Should any brigade ever stationed there they had every right to do so!
However, it is another Big Lie to whitewash the German war crime!
World War II saw continued use of propaganda as a weapon of war, both by Hitler’s propagandist Joseph Goebbels and the British Political Warfare Executive, the ally who betrayed Poland. Most propaganda in Germany was produced by the Ministry for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda (“Promi” in German abbreviation). Joseph Goebbels was placed in charge of this ministry shortly after Hitler took power in 1933. The Nazis believed in propaganda as a vital tool in achieving their goals. Adolf Hitler, Germany’s Fuhrer, was impressed by the power of Allied propaganda during World War 1.
They cleverly manipulated the masses into believing the lies and slander they peddled about Poland, to justify the invasion, but conveniently they never mentioned the partitioning of Poland, making her disappear from the world’s maps three times in the world’s history.
Never mentioned of the settlements of their citizens in Poland taking over the land, the farms and using Poles to work for them as slaves. They never acknowledge the war crimes committed by the Dead Squads, The SS, Gestapo in mass shooting, villages burnings, tortures and the near extermination of intelligentsia.
But they sure cry their eyes out when the allies struck out in vengeance and burn down Dresden.
They sure cry their eyes out when being finally expelled from the Polish territory that has belonged to Poles.
They sure cry their eyes out when in the end the poor German soldiers had to endure the same suffering they inflicted first on those whom they invaded.
The worst of all, again the innocent population of German citizens, especially the German women had been brutally raped in great numbers by resentful Russians warmed up with the adrenaline of their own memories, the accomplices of another partitioning of Poland, later betrayed and invaded by Hitler as well.
What goes around. Comes around. Karma works!
Did the German people expect it?
No.
They were promised THE WORLD!
Trusting their leader ( who in fact, was 1/4 jewish himself) they went for it.
Were they fighting Bolshevism as some German apologists claim? How could it be so when they singed the Ribbentrop-Molotow Pact?
How hypocritical! Absolutely illogical and senseless!
Were they getting rid of the Jews from Europe?
Sure they tried hard and even helped them to migrate to Palestine, but only the poor ones, never touching the Jewish elite and the most dangerous world’s mafia today. Thanks to this today we have the illegal, terrorist State of Israel.

The Russian, Prussian (German) and Austrian empires carved up Poland between them many times settling their people in Poland who took over Polish farms and businesses as their own. Therefore to these days they resent Polish Independence.
